These are by Ana Paula Rimoli. You can buy her handmade items or patterns at her etsy shop.
This style of crocheting is called amigurumi, or the japanese art of crocheting ridiculously cute animals or inanimate objects. I just think it's insanely cute. Learning how to make this is on my life's to do list. I thought crocheting was just about making doilies. Ana Paula Rimoli has just released a book called Amigurumi World, available at Amazon.com.
Hey, I didn't know you like amigurumi! Have you tried making any? I've bought a couple of books on amigurumi...still have yet to try them. They are soooo cute...have you seen some of the ones by Beth Doherty. They are so elaborate! Whenever she posts her creation on etsy, it is snatched up for hundreds of $s!

Hi, Saw your post on peachhead. I'm new to LA so I don't know much about the classes offered around here. I have much crochet experience, including teaching, and I love it! I'd be happy to show you some stitches. For these amigurumi, you really only have to know single crochet and crocheting in the round. Let me know if you'd like to meet up some time for a little crochet-a-long. :)
You can check out stuff I've made on my journal and at my flickr page (linked through the pix on my journal).

Linda-- I'll check it out! a whole new world to me.
Cheryl-- Welcome to LA! I love your blog. Crafty fun! : ) I guess, the first thing I should learn is how to spell "crocheting" correctly. A crochet-a-long sounds fun! I've got your info...

i wish i could crochet. i'd be making amigurumi kitties, pandas and octopus all day!
i totally love going through the japanese craft books and magazines in japantown here in sf. i wish i could understand what they say though, but at least the visual instructions are easy to decipher.
